Truly Preserved is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission — at no extra cost to you. This page is the full version of the short notice at the top of every review: how the links work, which programs we take part in, and the promises that come with them.
How affiliate links work
Some links on this site are affiliate links. They look and behave like ordinary links, but they carry a tracking code that tells the retailer the visit came from Truly Preserved. If you buy something after clicking one, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale out of their own margin. The price you pay is identical whether you arrived through our link or typed the store’s address yourself.
The tracking is done with a cookie that lasts a set window — 24 hours on Amazon, and anywhere from 30 to 120 days on the brand programs we work with. A purchase inside that window credits the referral; a purchase after it does not. If you return an item, the commission on it is reversed. Our Privacy Policy covers how cookies are used on this site.
What this means
- You never pay more because you used our link. The commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket.
- Commissions are how a small, independent review site pays for its hosting, its research time, and its coffee — without charging readers or plastering the pages with ads.
- Buying through a link is the main way readers support the work, and we are genuinely grateful when you do.
What this does not mean
- Commissions do not buy rankings. Products are chosen for a comparison first, on specs, price, and owner feedback, and links are added afterward. A product with no affiliate program at all can still win one of our comparisons — and when one does, we say so and link you to wherever it is sold.
- Scores are never negotiated. No brand can pay for a higher score, a better placement, or a softer write-up, and no brand sees a review before you do. How scoring works is published on our How We Rate page.
- We recommend products we would suggest to our own families, commission or not — and we publish the tradeoffs, not just the selling points.
- We do not invent experience. Truly Preserved is a research desk: comparisons are built from published specifications, certification records, and aggregated owner feedback. When we have not personally tested a product, we say so.
The programs we take part in
Amazon Associates. Truly Preserved is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, Truly Preserved earns from qualifying purchases.
We also work directly with some of the brands we review through their own affiliate programs, on the same terms described here. Joining a brand’s program never changes a score or a ranking — the review is written the same way either way, and several products in our comparisons are covered without any program behind them at all.
Why every post repeats the short notice
Disclosure law in the United States (the FTC’s endorsement guides) asks that a financial relationship be disclosed where the recommendation itself appears — not hidden on a page like this one alone. That is why every review carries the short version at the top, before the first recommendation, and why this page exists as the long version behind it.
If you would rather not use our links
That is completely fine. Search for the product name and buy it direct, or clear your cookies before you check out. The reviews stay free and unchanged either way — the research is the product, and it does not come with an obligation attached.
